House of Reps Deputy Minority Whip, Adekoya Facilitates N500million Naira Cardio Thoracic Centre To FMC

ABEOKUTA— The Deputy Minority Whip, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Adesegun Abdel-Majid Adekoya has facilitated a Multi-Million naira Cardio Thoracic centre to Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.

Hon. Adekoya representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside at the National Assembly said the project will bring federal government presence to the state and make health care easily accessible and remove elitism from such primary concern of our people.

According to him, the Cardio Thoracic centre is the first in the South West, Nigeria.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for bringing infrastructural developments to the entire country.

He expressed optimism that with the efforts of President Buhari and Governor Dapo Abiodun in infrastructural development, the construction of the project will be completed in no distance future.

Hon. Adekoya assured the management staff of FMC of adequate funding of the project for quick completion.

He charged the centre's Medical Director, Prof. Musa Olomu to monitor the contractor for excellent job in line with the requirement for the centre. 

He also charged members of staff to cooperate with the Chief Medical Director towards smooth tenure and developmental stride for the benefits of the people. 

"As a PDP member representing my Constituents, especially in a state and country run by the APC, one would have felt that such gigantic project will suffer lack of adequate funding that may eventually stall it. But, for President Buhari’s commitment to re-writing the narrative where infrastructural development of Nigeria is concerned, this project, construction of which will soon Kickstart will see the light of the day and my people will be the happiest and luckiest for it. If politics, regardless of the political party one belongs, is played the way Mr. President and Governor Dapo Abiodun are leading it, then development is assured and guaranteed for our dear people. For me, politics is supposed to be about the people and development and that is what Mr. President has shown. I am profoundly grateful for the leadership he has demonstrated. 

"As I close, I wish to once again congratulate the good people of Ogun State, our neighboring states, the management of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, and in particular, our own hard-working and untiring Prof. Musa-Olomu on this project that is berthing in our state today. The Professor has shown that hard work brings results as results bring fulfillment. No wonder he has been gifted another term in office, a well-deserved attainment.

"As far as I am concerned, the good people of Ogun State, and by extension, my Federal Constituency cannot wait to see these projects completed."

Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony on Monday, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu assured Hon. Adekoya of completing the project within two years.

Prof. Olomu maintained that, as part of the management desire to operate the centre at optimal level when completed, the hospital has begun staff training on how to operate the medical machines and accessories after completion of the multimillion naira project.

"Without mincing words, Rt. Hon. Adesegun Abdel-Majid Adekoya is a good man with selfless service to humanity, he facilitated this project in Abeokuta despite the fact that it is not his constituency, I must commend his gesture in rescuing Nigerians from cardio thoracic health challenges" he said.
