APC South-West youths kick against postponement of national convention

IBADAN - Youth leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West geo-political zone have urged the national leadership of the party not to shift the forthcoming national convention of the party slated for February 2022.

The Acting South-West Youth Leader, Mr. Kolade Paff Lawal, who led other youth leaders to an advisory press conference in Akure, yesterday, said the postponement might spell doom for the ruling party.

Lawal raised the alarm that some persons within the party were lobbying for the date to be postponed to a later date, urging the party leadership to shun such pressure.

The youth leaders, who stressed that the age limit for the next NWC membershipshould not be above 50 years, added that competent youths should be supported to win at the convention so as to have viable leadership ahead of 2023 general elections.

In another development, former Director-General, Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Council in the 2019 presidential election in Ekiti State, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has warned the leaders of APC against division and complacency that could make the party lose the 2022 governorship election.

The APC chieftain said the leadership of the party would have to up its game to address all issues, describing contending forces in the party as not only worrisome, but portends a bleak future for APC.

He stated this, yesterday, in Ayede-Ekiti, Oye Local Council of the state, during a Christmas get-together he organized for party members across five local councils in Ekiti North Senatorial District.
