2023: Yewa Professional Group Declares Support For Abiodun, Yayi

ABEOKUTA - As the clock ticks towards the general elections come 2023, a group of professionals have drummed up support for the re-election of the incumbent Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Besides, the professionals, under the aegis of Yewa Awori Advance Movement (YAAM) also canvassed the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, as the Senator for Ogun West Senatotial District.

YAAM's Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Famojuro, in his opening remarks in Owode-Yewa at the yearly thanksgiving service hosted by the Special Adviser to the Governor on government House, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan, said the continuation of the projects initiated by the immediate past administration endeared them to the incumbent.

"Although this is meeting dedicated to thank God for His mercies over us in the past stormy year 2021 and to ask for same this new year, we cannot but review government performance as it affects us.

"It is on this note that I like us as a group of professionals across the strata, to continue to support the current government in the State. You hardly can find a Governor pursuing so vigorously, projects, particularly roads, which full payments were claimed to have been made by the past administration. In my estimation, it is a sign of political maturity which I recommend for our political class," Famojuro stated.

Famojuro, an Economist and ex-top notch banker also used the opportunity to plead with the government to do all within its powers to fix the Owode-Ilaro road as this would enlarge the tax net for more income for the government to further deliver on its electioneering promises.

According to him, "the Omoluabi ethos in the Governor was seen in the way he handled the pull-him-down -eleventh- hour employment done by the past government," even as he said the Aremo of Yewaland, Senator Adeola, remained the candidate to beat at the Ogun West Senatorial level of representation in the National Assembly elections.

The Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Olaotan, who welcome the group to his yearly thanksgiving commended the support being accorded the current administration.

He advised that as important stakeholders in the senatorial district, the group should strive to ensure that the peace in the area is sustained.

"I like to commend you. This is the first time in history, as far as my memory cannot fail me, that we are having this convergence of elites along professional delineation getting interested in issues of governance.

"We like you to continue to talk to our people to be what they are: law abiding people. It is a thing of pride when I hear the sobriquet ' Yewa kii sewon' It is this that can bring development that we have always craved. Also, their is hope, even for an axed tree to blossom once again," Olaotan stated.
