ABEOKUTA - Police in Ogun State have arrested a man, Oyedele Nutai Joseph and his wife, Elizabeth Joseph for allegedly invading Toyon High school, Ere village with thugs to attack a teacher, Abel Thomas for beating their son, Joshua Joseph an SS3 student of the school.
The suspects were arrested after a team of police from Ado-Odo Police Divisional Headquarters received distress call from the school, that parent of one of their students had beaten and injured one of the teachers.
The DPO, Ado-Odo Police Divisional headquarters, SP Arowojeun Michael, quickly led his men to the school where the couple were arrested while their other accomplices escaped.
According to a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, initial investigation revealed that, the teacher, Abel Thomas, was said to have corrected an SS3 student of the school, Joshua Joseph who then went home to inform his parents that he was beaten by the teacher.
Oyeyemi explained that, the parents who felt that the teacher has no right to beat their son for any reason mobilized some thugs and stormed the school.
He said on getting there, the thugs descended heavily on the teacher, beating and injuring him.
It was said that the suspects also damaged the back screen of a Toyota Corolla vehicle belonging to another teacher of the school, Jolayemi Sunday.
He stated that the injured teacher had been taken to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered that the escaped thugs who escort the couple to attack the school should be hunted for and brought to justice.
He also directed that the arrested couple should be charged to court without delay.
