ABEOKUTA - The Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Troupe of Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed has described Ogun State as rich in cultural heritage with awesome tourism potentials.
Mohammed disclosed this last week Friday at the 9th edition of Children's Creative Station Workshop command performance of the stage play titled "The Rejected Blessing" written by Mrs. Pamela Udoka held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
The Artistic Director noted that, every child is born with special gifts, stressing that it is important for government to harness these potentials for development of the country.
He maintained that the Children's Creative Station Workshop will be taken to other states of the federation.
In his goodwill message, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun thanked the National Troupe of Nigeria for choosing the gateway state, assuring that the development of the children remains important to the his government.
Abiodun who was represented by his Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo maintained that his administration will continue to devote adequate resources to promotion of culture and tourism sector in the state.
Abiodun enjoined parents to encourage their children to take up career in performing and creative arts which according to him is becoming money spinner.
In the same vein, the Minister For Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed urged government at all levels as well as parents and guardians to continue to nurture and encourage the children towards becoming shining stars in the future.
Represented By The General Manager Of The National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, Professor Sunny Ododo, the Minister assured that the federal government is ready to work with state governments towards bettering the lots of the children.
He posited that the staging of the drama in Ogun state would avail children in the state to exhibit their talents as well as build their self-confidence.
The project coordinator and writer of the stage play, Mrs Pamela Udoka in her remarks expressed her joy working with children from the state.
She informed that the children were taught creative writing, dance, drama, and choreography.
The event featured cultural dances, presentation of certificates of participation to the children.
Highlight of the event includes performance of Fishermen Dance by Sudents of Sound Mind Model College created by late Hubert Ogunde.
