ABEOKUTA - The final of the ongoing SWAN Security and Safety Football cup has been postponed to March 5, 2022.
This was contained in a press release issued in Abeokuta on Friday by the Secretary, Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji.
According to Ogunsiji, the postponement was due to the clash in date of the Final football match of Lisabi football competition in commemoration of the annual Lisabi Festival in the state.
He explained that, the Lisabi football final coincided with the association's earlier scheduled March 2, 2022 for the Security cup final billed to hold at the MKO Abiola International stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
He, however, noted that the Semi-finals of the SWAN Security/Safety Cup will go ahead as scheduled on Monday, 28th February, 2022 at the mainbowl of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta beginning from 2pm.
The SWAN Scribe said the Police team will clash with Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) team in the first semi-final match, while TRACE team will trade tackle with NSCDC team in the second semi-final same day by 4pm.
He added that, winners of the two semi-final matches will meet on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the same venue beginning by 4pm.
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR is the Special Guest of Honour, while the Guest of Honour is the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly. Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo who will perform the official ceremonial kick-off.
The Chairman of the day is Hon. Olumide Osoba, Chairman, House Committee on Youths and Sports at the Federal House of Representatives.
Other dignitaries expected at the final ceremony are, the Ogun State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Dr. Kehinde Oludare, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola Subair, Rtd, His Royal Highness, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale, and host of Heads of Security agencies in Ogun state.
