ABEOKUTA - A socio-political group, Progressive Friends on Saturday have lamented the neglect of Ado-Odo Ota local government area of the state by previous administration in the state.
The group noted that, despite being the largest local government in the state and contributing largest Internally Generated Revenue to the state government coffers, it has been denied social amenities and infrastructural development.
The group, through its major financier and supporter, Sotayo Olusola Rasak (Sholebo), the Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO), disclosed this in a protest letter submitted to the state government.
Speaking at an event organized to pass a vote of confidence on the Dapo Abiodun - led administration and also to endorse the Governor for second term, the Board of Trustees (B.O.T) Chairman Alamu Olurebi said, the group was poised to change the political scene in the State.
Olurebi commended Abiodun for the unprecedented achievements and overall development of the State, saying the Governor must be allowed to continue and complete the good works he started.
He also commended the Governor for speedily addressing the concerns of the group.
Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Governor, the Chairman of Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area, Seriffu Musa urged the group to remain focused and steadfast in its mandates.
The Coordinator of the group in the Local Government, Philip Amosu in his address called on leaders in the State to give indigenes of the Local Government a chance to hold top political positions.
The group also endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun and his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele for second term.
