ABEOKUTA - A new Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olaniyi Ijalaye Esq has been deployed to Ogun State headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take over from the former REC, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje who had been redeployed to INEC, Lagos State.
Mr. Olaniyi Ijalaye is a legal practitioner who fills the vacancy for Ondo State sequel to the appointment of Mr. Sam Olumekun as a National Commissioner.
The new Hon. Resident Electoral Commissioner arrived INEC State Office Magbon, Abeokuta on 28th February 2022.
He was received by the former Hon. REC. Mr. Olusegun Agbaje and the Management Team.
The official handing over ceremony was performed earlier on Monday, 7th March 2022.
Olaniyi Ijalaye Esq is a graduate of University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife) where he had his First degree and Master’s degree in Law in 1982 and 1995 respectively. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983.
He joined the services of the premier banking institution, the First Bank of Nigeria PLC on 2nd July 1984 as a Legal Officer and rose through the ranks.
He retired from First bank as Deputy Legal Adviser on 30th June 2011 after 28 years of meritorious service.
He was sworn in by the Hon. Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as the Hon. Resident Electoral Commissioner on 23rd February 2022.
