ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has lauded the Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for organizing football competition among the security outfits in the state, saying it will further boost the synergy between them.
Abiodun gave the commendation on Saturday at the final match of the 2021 SWAN Security/Safety Cup held at the mainbowl of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Dr. Kehinde Oludare added that the state government will continue to support laudable sporting events aimed at fostering unity and peace in the state, while congratulating the maiden winner of the competition.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) won the maiden edition of the Ogun SWAN Security and Safety Cup carting home with N100,000 grand prize.

In the keenly contested final football match, NSCDC defeated their Nigeria Police counterpart by one goal to nil.
Meanwhile, the elated captain of the winning side, described the final as a cagey match, saying that any team could have won on the day.
The Most Valuable Player of the tournament goes to Aramide Owolabi of NSCDC, while Ayomide Fisayo won the golden boot award with 5 goals.
Kadejo Adekanmbi of the Nigeria Police was voted Best goalkeeper of the tournament having conceded just 3 goals through out the tournament, the Amotekun Corps won the Fair Play Award sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Sports at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba.
