Eddy Ademosu: A Consummate Media Connoisseur, Reputation Brand Manager Turns 60

According to Wikipedia, greatness is defined as a concept of a state of superiority, affecting a person or object in a place or area. Greatness also refers to individuals who possess a natural ability to be better than others.


Born on April 27, 1962, Edward Ademosu is an experienced brand communication expert with an expansive wealth of knowledge, training and experience in managing Corporate & Community Relations, Brands Relations, and Corporate Advertising Management.


Eddy, as fondly called, is an energetic and resourceful professional with analytical and strategic skills for perception analyses; crisis and reputation management; branding, marketing, and possesses an excellent ability to achieve results with precision. As an individual, he works towards the attainment of excellence in all endeavours, believing that professionals/technocrats should only attain the highest level of their endeavors.


The graduate of Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta) holds double Master Degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Communication Arts (MCA) from Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U), Ile-Ife, and University of Ibadan, Ibadan, (all in Nigeria) respectively. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. programme in Mass Communication, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria.

 

A consummate corporate communication practitioner with over 25 years of varied experience in financial/banking communication, advertising, public relations, and brand management, Eddy is a past president of the banking industry body, the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks in Nigeria (ACAMB), a position he held between 2006 and 2011.

 

In addition to having published several industry articles, he has attended and made presentations at professional seminars, workshops, and conferences globally, most recently at the African Public Relations Association (APRA)'s workshops in Kumasi, Ghana, and Abuja, Nigeria.


An award winner, he was named the "Most Outstanding Public Relations Professional" for the Year 2004 by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ogun State Chapter.


The father of four possesses varied skills in Public Relations/Corporate Affairs, Advertising, Brand and Policy formulation, Media relations, and Marketing skills to formulate marketing policies to propel deposits/sales of organizational products/services.


The calm, cool and delectable media connoisseur had previously worked as Group Head/AGM, Corporate Communications Department, Intercontinental Bank Plc (now Access Bank Plc) between February 2011 – March 2012. During his time with the defunct Intercontinental Bank, he was responsible for formulating  and executing strategic corporate communication policies/programmes for the Bank and its subsidiaries (local and international), coordinated and administered advertising/marketing communication campaigns for the Bank via selected Advertising Agencies. The Group’s advert budget was over a Billion Naira. 


Eddy Ademosu re-engineered the Corporate Brand of the Bank, working with approved consultants and chaired relevant marketing communication sub-committees of Management and attended EXCO/ALCO meetings for advisory roles/crisis management.


He was a senior manager, Corporate Affairs, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc between April 2006 – January 2011. During his spell at Union Bank, he deputized in formulating and executing corporate affairs policies/programmes for the Bank i.e. media, customers, shareholders, government/regulatory authorities relations, etc. Coordinating and administering the bank's advertising/marketing communications campaigns via selected Advertising Agencies. 


Coordinating all publications of the bank including editing of in-house journals, promotional posters, etc (i.e. The Stallion News and The Stallion Magazine).


Re-engineering the corporate brands of the Bank.


Coordinating the daily running of the Corporate Affairs Department with over 35 members-staff strength, including representative officers in Area Offices nationwide.


Outside the banking world, Eddy worked briefly with Mc-Clique Brands (a Communication Group) between Nov. 2005 – March 2006 as Associate Director (Client).

          

He successfully managed the client base of over 35 Corporate Companies and 125 high net worth individuals with striving business and political interests nationwide and responsible for business development of the entire group comprising of viable marketing communication and brand management outfits with billings volumes of over N1 billion (One billion naira).


As part of his Impressive stints in the Corporate world, Eddy was employed as Senior Manager/Head, Public Relations, Wema Bank Plc between April 2002 – Oct. 2005. Under this period, Eddy Ademosu was solely responsible for formulating and executing public relations policies/programmes for the Bank i.e. Media Relations, Customers Relations, Investor/Financial Relations, Shareholders’ Relations, Employee Relations, Board Relations, Government/ Regulatory Authorities Relations, etc.


He equally coordinated and administered advertising proposals/campaigns of the Bank via selected Advertising agencies.  The Advert budget runs to several million naira. He coordinated all publications of the bank including editing of in-house journals (“Wema Reach”, “Wema Periscope”, “Wema at a Glance” etc.), promotional posters, handbills, etc.


After leaving the banking industry in 2012, Eddy Ademosu joined a brand management company, MC-Clique Brands Associates as the Group Executive Officer (GEO), a position he holds to date.

                 

During this period, this brand manager was responsible for the business development, formulation, and execution of clients’ brand/communication strategies running to turnover of Billions' billings in the last three years.


The Ijebu North-East, Ogun State-born financial expert, holds a Master’s Degree Communication Arts (MCA) – University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria in 1994 and Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria in 2005.


The determination to succeed against all odds encouraged Eddy Ademosu to forge ahead. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. programme in Mass Communication, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria.


Eddy is like a bird we call Eyele in Yoruba Land. (Dove). He does not fly away on the day of trouble.


Although, his theory of birthday is in Psalm 90 verse 12 which says (Teach us to number our days that we may apply our heart unto wisdom). That is why, Eddy preferred a modest birthday celebration with family members and friends.


He is an active member of 'Ijebu Forum', a purely socio-political body, consisting of elders and professionals from core Ijebu and Remo Divisions. The body was instrumental in aiding the emergence of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun as the current Governor of Ogun State.


He is passionate about Social & Economic Development of Nigeria.


He believes the quality of people in leadership determines development in any country.
