ABEOKUTA - Ogun state students under the aegis of National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) have called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to engage the leadership of Community Development Associations (CDAs) on regular dialogue in order to stem the tide of insecurity in the state.
The students made this recommendation on Friday at the NANS/NAOS Joint Senate Sitting/Congress held at the multipurpose hall of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu, Ogun state.
The Senate sitting presided over by the state's NANS/JCC Chairman, Comrade Damilola Simeon had in attendance senators from all tertiary institutions in the state.
Reading the communiqué issued at the end of the sitting, Simeon noted that the CDA chairmen being closer to the people would help the government in identifying the bad elements in their communities.
He said this is important following the incessant cult clashes in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, and other parts of the state.
He urged the governor to tackle the cult clashes headlong before it escalated into the campuses.
"On the issue of insecurity presently going on in the state, I urge the governor to look into it before it escalate into our campuses.
"The governor should engage the CDAs to stem the spate of insecurity because they are closer to the campuses for safety."
The students equally called on the governor to fix the dilapidated road of Omu-Ijebu leading to TASCE main campus.
They, however, commended the governor on the agricultural revolution and improved health sector in the state.
