Ogunbanwo, Saapade Rector, Bag NANS, NAOSS Award Of Excellence

 


ABEOKUTA - The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Ogun State Joint Campus Committee (JCC) and the National Association of Ogun State Students have honoured the Ogun State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Femi Ogunbanwo, and Rector of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Dr. Isaiah Oyeyinka and the  with awards of excellence for their contributions to the development of education in the State.


Oyeyinka and Ogunbanwo were honoured during the joint congress of the Senate of NANS, Ogun JCC and the NAOSS, held at the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu Ijebu.


The congress which was attended by the Presidents of the Student Union Government (SUG) of all tertiary institutions in the State and Senators of both NANS and NAOSS was headed by the Chairman of NANS, Ogun JCC, Comrade Kehinde Damilola Simeon.


Simeon while presenting the award to Ogunbanwo, described him as a pillar of support to the students constituency in the State.


According to him, Ogunbanwo had been supporting the course of students in the State, adding that the award would encourage him and other well meaning Ogun state indigenes to do more in moving the education sector forward.


"The Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Bar. Femi Ogunbanwo has been a father to students because he has been championing the course of students.


"For instance, Ogunbanwo recently distributed free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to 100 indigent students from Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East Federal constituency.


"He has also announced bursary award donation of N50,000 for 50 indigent Ogun State students. 


"These gestures and many more would not only improve the standard of education in the State, but also restore the hope of students in the provision of affordable quality education by the Governor Dapo Abiodun - led administration", Simeon said.


The NANS Chairman also commended the the Rector of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade for turning the fortunes of the Polytechnic around for good.


He maintained that, Polytechnic, under the leadership of Oyeyinka had withnessed tremendous development, both academically and in infrastructure.


In their separate acceptance speeches, the awardees thanked the students' bodies, adding that, tbe award would serve as a catalyst for them to do more for the student constituency.
