Tranquility Convalescent Aged Care Home Berths In Ogun


ABEOKUTA - A home care service delivery for the sick and recuperating elderly home has been launched in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.


The elderly home, Tranquility Convalescent Home Care, situated along Prof. Wole Soyinka road, Kemta Housing Estate, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta was commissioned by the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo on Wednesday.


The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ultra-modern care home, Mrs. Stephanie Olamide Ayo-Akinyemi said establishment of the care facility was informed by her desire to fill the vacuum of standard medical and non-medical post discharge process of the elderly from hospitals.


Mrs. Ayo-Akinyemi said the facility will provide a conducive home to the elderly and engage in services that will help them complete basic activities of daily living and other simple tasks such as assistance in mobility, nutrition, fall prevention, medication, diabetes and wound management.


She noted that, the facility is equipped with modern amenities to support the needs of the clients such as internet services that will enable them communicate effectively with their relations.


While declaring the centre open, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo commended the project facilitator for siting the facility in Abeokuta.


Alake who recalled the impact of the first Health Minister in Nigeria, Dr. Adeoye Lambo in Egbaland said the aged home care would further improve the healthcare of the state.


The monarch, therefore, called on Egba sons and daughters to support the initiative and give their elderly parents good medical attention.


Meanwhile, the Ogun State government has promised to continue creating enabling environment to through infrastructural development to attract investors to the state.


The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Kehinde Ololade disclosed that the state government is selfless in its healthcare delivery to meet the people's medical care.


Dr. Coker, however, assured the management of Tranquility Convalescent Home Care of the state government support.


"Our delivery of health care is to be selfless and create an enabling environment for those that want to contribute. We are going to ensure that investors will be able to take a testimony of how Dapo Abiodun's government has tremendously improved on the health sector in the state."
