ABEOKUTA - Social Democratic Party (SDP) may disqualify its Governorship candidate in Ogun State Oshinowo Adeleke over alleged fake certificate of clearance.
The party accused Oshinowo of submitting a fake clearance certificate to contest the primary election.
Oshinowo was said to have won the party's primary election held on Monday inside the Sweet Sensation Hall located in Oke-Ilewo area of Abeokuta with 56 votes against his major contender, Engr Anthony Ojesina who polled 41 votes.
The party leadership, however, later discovered that, Oshinowo did not pay for the nomination fee, and was surprised on how he came about the clearance certificate, which was suspected to be a fake document, hence, his risk of losing the ticket.
Confirming the incident, the Deputy Chairman of the party, Sola Coker added that the discovery had been made known to the national headquarters of the party in Abuja.
Coker, also disclosed that, the national secretariat of the party has equally confirmed the discovery of the alleged clearance certificate, adding that Oshinowo was not even known to the leadership of the party in the state.
When asked on how Oshinowo succeeded in winning the primary, the Deputy Chairman, alleged that the delegates were influenced in what he described "money inducement", emphasizing that Oshinowo will be disqualified on completion of the investigation process.
"There is no record that he collected form. He did not do any screening and did not swear an oath as required by law. He has never met the party executive. The national secretariat said he did not pay for the form. He is not meant to contest, and he is to be disqualified", Coker emphasized.
The Governorship candidate could not be reached, as all efforts proved abortive to get his reaction over the development.
