ABEOKUTA - The State Executive Council of New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Ogun state has unanimously nominated and endorsed Hon. Olujobi Ezekiel Fayoyin as its governorship candidate.
This was contained in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party and signed by 19 out of the 20 local government chairmen of the party in the state.
The party premised its action on the provision of section 84(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, and in compliance with article 13(9) of NNPP's constitution.
The party's chairmen on Thursday said their action was in furtherance to the provision of the section 84 of the Electoral Act on the nomination of candidate for the gubernatorial Election to be conducted in a democratic manner and attempt to ensure peace, unity and harmony within the party ahead of the June 6, 2022 governorship primary in the state.
"In accordance to the procedure of nomination of candidate for the gubernatorial election in conformity with the provision of section 84(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, and in compliance with article 13(9) of NNPP's constitution the undersigned further to the provision of the section 84 of the Electoral Act on the nomination of candidate for the gubernatorial Election to be conducted in a democratic manner.
" In Our attempt to ensure peace, unity and harmony, the Ogun NNPP State Executive Council members hereby today 2nd of June, 2022 nominate and endorse Hon. OLUJOBI EZEKEIL FAYOYIN as the candidate of Ogun NNPP for the 2023 Gubernatorial Election by consensus.
"All the State Executive Members including Chairmen of the 20 Local government of Ogun State unanimously signed here to affirm and confirm the candidacy of Hon. OLUJOBI EZEKIEL FAYOYIN as our consensus candidate for the 6th of June Gubernatorial Primaries election of New Nigeria People's Party Ogun State."
