NNPP Ratifies Fayoyin As Ogun Gov'ship Candidate

Hon. Ezekiel Fayoyin

ABEOKUTA - Delegates of New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Ogun State on Monday ratified the candidature of Hon. Olujobi Ezekiel Fayoyin as its governorship candidate.

THE ENCOUNTER NEWS report that, the State Executive Council of New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Ogun state last Thursday unanimously nominated and endorsed Hon. Olujobi Ezekiel Fayoyin as its governorship candidate.

In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party and signed by 19 out of the 20 local government chairmen of the party in the state, the party premised its action on the provision of section 84(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, and in compliance with article 13(9) of NNPP's constitution.

However, on Monday, the primary election exercise conducted by the NNPP electoral committee led by Hon Abdullahi Dogonnama and monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) took place in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Dogonnama announced Fayoyin as winner after a voice vote at the primary.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the electoral committee urged the candidate to focus on education and people's oriented projects if emerged as governor in next election.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of NNPP, Oginni Olaposi declared that with Fayoyin's emergence the party is set to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election.

He asked Governor Dapo Abiodun to start preparing his hand over note ahead of the next election.

Olaposi said "We are here to ratify nomination of one of us, who you have chosen, but you will still chose before INEC.

"We are ready to take over Ogun State. By this we are sending warning to Governor Dapo Abiodun to begin writing his hand over note because we are ready to take over in 2023.

"We are not joking. We are ready to take over from the incompetency.

"APC thinks they are Goliath, but NNPP has come in form of David and we are ready to subdue them. We will rescue the state from political vampire."

Responding, the 35-year-old businessman, Fayoyin applauded the delegates for electing him as the party candidate.

He asked the youth to support him towards winning next election.
