ABEOKUTA - Despite Ogun State Government's free education claim for primary and secondary school, some Junior Secondary School pupils were on Monday sent home for failure to pay their first term report sheet fee.

The report sheet is the result card given to the pupils by the school management after the conclusion of the examination.

This development came barely 24 hours after teachers and students resumed one week of industrial strike action following the unremitted 21 months of deductions of the state workers by Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration.

When THE ENCOUNTER NEWS visited Igbore High School, the pupils, majorly from JSS 1 and JSS 2 were seen rushing out from the school compound as early as 9:15 am on Monday.

Some of the pupils who spoke with our reporter claimed that they were sent out of the school for not paying their first term result sheet.

Some of the students seen loitering around the school vicinity.

Efforts to get government reaction or clarification proved futile, as both calls and text messages sent to the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu were not responded to two hours before filing this report.

The school Principal also declined comment saying he was not authorized to speak with journalists.

Also contacted, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo directed our reporter to the Commissioner for Education.
