ABEOKUTA - The Ogun State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied the media report credited to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the ruling party was planning to manipulate the peaceful conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections slated for Saturday February 23.
The All Progressives Congress Spokesperson, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye disassociated the ruling party from the said grand plan to execute electoral malpractices.
He stated that the allegations and plans listed by the ADC are indeed very true as they pertain to Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his baby-party, the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM). That the ADC always link APC to the machinations of Governor Amosun and his APM, and deliberately so, shows that the ADC officials are cowards, who will not dare hit the nail on the head.
According to Oladunjoye, “it would be recalled that the APC has been criticizing and alerting the members of the public and boldly stating who the perpetrators are. Even as of yesterday, we issued a press release on the the evil plans of the APM and its sole-financier to cause further confusion, especially during the Saturday elections”.
Oladunjoye noted that ADC had in the past mentioned APC and APM as removing ADC’s campaign materials, before the state government owned-up to the act. The ADC never came back to apologise.
He said when ADC in January, raised alarm during a press conference, about an alleged plans of APM and APC to attack its campaign train, it was the APC’s Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train that was eventually attacked on January 31, 2019 in Abeokuta during our ward-to-ward tour of Abeokuta North Local Government.
“We never received any solidarity message from the ADC, whereas when ADC’s convoy was attacked in December last year, our governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun, immediately put a call through to Mr. Gboyega Isiaka to sympathize with him”.
The APC Spokesman disclosed that last week, Prince Dapo Abiodun published a congratulatory advert to felicitate with the ADC candidate on his birthday but yet to get an acknowledgement.
“Why the ADC is always scared-stiff of pointing its fingers directly at the culpable quarters, it is not only baffling, but also depicts the party as that of cowards. We urge the ADC to up its game and show more courage and honesty expected of a party aspiring to rule Ogun State, instead of these misdirected and mischievous allegations, which are signs of early fatigue”, he stressed
