Awe! Hits AirWaves With Election Evergreen Hit Single "Ko Gba Gidigbo"

ABEOKUTA - One of Nigeria's finest  creative music artistes, 'Femi   Orunsola stage-named Awe has joined the likes of music mega stars like 2face Idibia (2Baba) who have taken it upon themselves to deploy music as a tool to shapen and mould the minds of Nigerians towards political mass participation and sues for free,  fair and credible elections devoid of all shades of violence.

Our reporter, had a brief interaction with Awe whose hit single tagged "Ko Gba Gidigbo" has been enjoying massive media airplay on Radio stations in Lagos,  Ogun state, Kwara and other South West states and extracted some interesting facts about the source of inspiration of the evergreen song which accurately captures almost all the current realities seen in the political scenario in Nigeria except a prediction of the actual winners of the election.

Excerpts:

What Inspired "Ko Gba Gidigbo"?
I actually composed the song since 2015 during the   presidential elections then, amidst the political tension
prevalent at that time but the song did not fly at all as only one radio station used it and shelved it.

I am a lifestyle music artiste so I get my inspiration from God but basically from things happening around me.

Which Political Party Sponsors Your Song Since it Has Political Overttone?

I just did the song out of my love and passion for Nigeria. This is not my first time singing on issues affecting Nigeria. I have done several Nigeria-centric singles previously but this anti-violence track stands out as a hit single and an ekection evergreen. Talking of sponsorship, I am not a card carrying member of any political party in Nigeria o.I do not even have any record label or promoter for my music yet.

I have actually approached many stakeholders and a couple of relevant government agencies and NGOs for support towards the video of the song but I have been sponsoring myself so far. The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ogun State Chapter under Comrade Arabambi has however shown some interests in supporting the campaign since the core messages and advocacy of the song centres around mass participation in elections, free, fair and credible elections devoid of violence.

What Do You Think Nigerians Can Do to Help Your Music Career?

I must thank the Nigerian media industry both radio,  TV and print media as well as Social Media influencers, for projecting me and my music. They are the reason why I am still pursuing a music career today. I want relevant agencies of the Federal government like NOA, INEC, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, as well as advocacy NGOs to patronise me and partner with me to optimally deploy music to fast track national rebirth processes. I cannot wait to get a record label sign me up too. To all my fans downloading my music online, listening on radio and watching my videos on TV,  I say a big thank you and promise to give them more entertaining yet meaningful lifestyle music.
