ABEOKUTA - The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) on Monday disowned some members who were alleged to have collected money from Politicians to shut their mouths on the election postponement.
The National Public Relations Officer of the association, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez while addressing journalists in Abeokuta on Monday alleged that, some malicious students hiding under the umbrella of NANS have resorted to extorting money from politicians to support the postponed election.
The NANS spokesman equally added that the students body has stepped down its proposed nationwide prottest schedule for today.
He claimed that, the reason for suspending the protest was because of the plan by some unnamed politicians to hijack the protest.
He further alleged that, some Human Rights groups sponsored by politicians are planning to hijack their protest.
Adeyemi therefore, enjoined Nigerian students to remain focus and trust in the goal to build a better Nigeria.
"Information from our intelligence has it that some criminals sponsored by some enemies of our nation, human rights have planned to hijack the voice of the people.
"NANS, Nigerians and Nigeria is still suffering from the shock caused as a result of the instigated postponement that was influenced by some cabals, that by all means wants power outside peoples choice.
"We need to quickly remind President Muhammadu Buhari that INEC is handicap without your support and if you choose to allow this cabal to sleep well in their comfort room; it simply means your personal integrity and your government is going to be dented.
"We must however inform the malicious criminals shooting from the umbrella of NANS that they should go and return the money they collected from Nigerian politicians, we disown them today, they are not our members, they are thieves and enemies of the students community.
"While we want to inform the well-meaning and conscious Nigerian students and Nigerians at large to keep calm, remain focus, not to be disappointed about the postponed day of the protest and also trust in our goal to build a better Nigeria we all clamoured to have".
