ABEOKUTA - In less than twenty-four hours to the commencement of the National Assembly election, three political parties have declared their support for the Senatorial Candidate of Green Party of Nigeria(GPN) in Ogun State, Abimbola Majekodunnmi-Onokoya.
Onokoya, who is the Ogun Central Senatorial Candidate of Green Party was adopted by Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alliance for New Nigerian (ANN) and Accord Party (AP).
The adoption ceremony which took place at the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) Secretariat located in Lantoro area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, had in attendance chieftains of the opposition parties which include: Waheed Adedokun (SDP),Mike Adekunle(ANN) and Adekunle Amusa(AP) in attendance.
In the same vein, three pressure groups which include; Youth Leadership Movement led by Comrade Saheed Lawal, Redemption Mission led by Oyekunle Adebayo and Youth Inititaive Forum led by Karim Opeyemi Tajudeen adopted the candidate.
The female candidate of Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) if elected is to represent, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South,Odeda, Ifo, Ewekoro and Obafemi-Owode under the Ogun Central Senatorial District of Ogun State at the National Assembly.
Speaking after the adoption, the representatives of the three political parties said the adoption was reached after reviewing the qualities of the candidate; hence, the authorities were convinced that she remains a better candidate to support.
The coalition of the parties pledge to support and mobilize votes for the female politician to win the election, and also expressed optimism of her victory, stressing that it has been established that she meant well for her Senatorial District.
Responding, the Candidate of the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), Abimbola Majekodunmi-Onokoya expressed appreciation over her adoption, and pledge that she would not disappoint her Senatorial District if elected.
She said, she was overwhelmed by the support given to her, stating that, that was a new positive chapter in her political career, with assurance that, she would use all relevant machinery in her disposal to transform the Senatorial District.
