ABUJA - The Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta has been adjudged as overall best in the Servicom Presidency Compliance Evaluation of some Federal Medical Centres in the Country.
The Centre was awarded a 3 Star Service status with an acceptable remark.
Besides, the institution was adjudged to have most aspects and criteria of Service Delivery Covered.
Other Federal Medical Centres evaluated and with 2 Star and Fair remark included Ebute-Metta, Ido-Ekiti, Gombe, Azare, Nguru, Umuahia, Yenagoa, Asaba, Makurdi and Gusau.
Those with 1 Star status are Birnin-Kebbi, Owerri and Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
All the Centres were evaluated on 5 servicom service index as follows: Service Delivery, Timeliness, Information, Professionalism and Staff Attitude.
The findings were contained in an Evaluation Report submitted by the Servicom Presidency to the Federal Ministry of Health.
On the FMC Abeokuta, the 22- page report had noted with delight the “completion of modular theatre and other structures, the acquisition of hectares of land in a bid to expand the capacity of the Hospital demonstrates high level of commitment on the part of the Medical Director and his Management team”.
The report also commended the Management for the provision of health care services to the grassroots noting the provision of “free eye screening at Joga Orile as well as other community outreach programmes such as HIV Counseling and Testing Services among others demonstrates the passion and determination of the Medical Director and his Management team to improve the well-being of the people through healthcare delivery to the grassroots.
Commenting on the report, the Medical Director, FMC, Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu expressed delight and satisfaction with the result promising to sustain and improve on the rating.
His words “I am extremely delighted and encouraged by the objectivity of the report. We sincerely promised to fulfill our pledge as stated in our 9-Point vision statement when we came on board two and half years ago.”
While thanking the administration of Mr. President and Ministers of Health for providing an enabling environment to excel, the Medical Director pledged the determination of the Centre to put in its best towards the enhancement of the “excellent works of the current government of President Muhammadu Buhari at ensuring that every Nigerian enjoys the fruit of democracy in the area of access to quality and affordable health care.”
