Lockdown: Prostitutes Demand To Be Listed As Essential Workers Like Doctors, Journalists


ABEOKUTA - Following the outbreak of the deadily Coronavirus which has ravaged the world, and rendered many jobless due to closure of many businesses.

Many countries gave ordered people to work from home to avoid the spread of the virus.

The only people allowed to work are special service offers like doctors, those who handle essential things like foodstuffs, hospitals and chemists.

However, the commercial sex workers declared that they have witnessed large losses since the outbreak of COVID-19.

The closure of clubs which act as their working zone has rendered many jobless.

They said, they have been forced to accept low wages from their esteemed customers. 

They are now accepting as low as N500, which used to be between N1,000 depending with the customer, place, age and some other reasons.

They therefore, requested to be listed among the people to benefit from the government beneficiaries.

They said that life has become tough, many of them cannot afford to eat three square meal a day. 

They also claimed that they have little time to do their business since the imposition of curfew.
