Hon. Yusuf Adejojo Renders One Year Account Of Stewardship At Ogun Assembly

Hon. Yusuf Temitope Adejojo

Today, June 10, 2020 marks exactly one year Hon. Yusuf Temitope Adejojo was sworn into office as a Member of the Ogun state House of Assembly representing Abeokuta South State Constituency 1.

In a statement released at his constituency office, Hon. Adejojo said: On a day like this, it is worthy thanking Almighty God for His faithfulness, peace, protection and blessings. I also thank the people of Abeokuta South Constituency 1, for the loyalty, patience and tremendous support so far for this administration.

My people, in accepting my mandate I made solemn declarations to the good people of Abeokuta South. I pledged to represent with the fear of God translating to core values of transparency, accountability, fairness, justice, humility, selflessness, discipline, integrity, forgiveness and reconciliation which shall engender peace and unity as well as make development inevitable.

I am of the conviction that Leadership is about being of service to others not being served by others. Leadership is an opportunity to serve and I do not take that opportunity for granted. To this end, I thought it is necessary to render an account of my stewardship in the last one year.

In the last 365 days in office, I have been serving as the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism as well as Vice Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture. I am also privileged to be a member of various House Committees which includes; Works, Lands and Investement and Trade.

As the slogan of our administration; ‘Igbega Ipinle Ogun; Ajose wa ni’, I have, in my ability as a legislator in Ogun State, sponsored resolutions and bills to better the lives of citizens in our dear state. Some of the bills and resolutions are:
Establishment of office of Public Private Partnership Law
Ogun State Mortgages and Fore closure law
A bill for a law to establish the Ogun State Investment promotion and facilitation agency and for matters connected therewith.
Resolutions:-
Need for government to procure fire engines and water tankers across the states
Resolution for the government to improve and invest in tourism sector to provide employment and development of the state
A call on the State government to officially recognize and immortalize the original author and composer of the Ogun state anthem “Ise ya” Late Chief Dayo Dedeke among others.
A call for the government to officially ban overloading of motorcycles in the state.

As member representing the good people of Constituency 1 in Abeokuta South Local Government, I made sure I stuck with the promises made to my people during the campaign and electioneering for this position to facilitate projects that will create enabling environment and improve the living standard of my people. Few of the promises which I have fulfilled are:

1. Reconstruction and Renovation of Projects: With the kind approval of His Excellency, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun,MFR.

I made use of my good office as a legislator and the representative of the people of Abeokuta South Constituency 1 to facilitate several projects to my constituency such as the reconstruction of
- Fajol road
- Elite -to Idi-Aba - Lantoro roads, which has been in a state of dilapidation over the years.
- Construction of 150 units of prince court estates at kemta Idi-Aba.
- Reconstruction of Oluwo – Ifa Itoko bridge
- Renovation of Schools
- Purchase of medical equipment to General Hospital Ijaiye to enhance the service delivery.

I also took it upon myself to provide a source of water for the plank sellers at Iporo-Ake in ward 3 of my constituency. Over the years, traders in the market experience difficulty in accessing good water but as part of my campaign promise to them, I made sure I provided a source of clean water.

Loan Scheme: I also started a loan scheme for small business owners in my constituency. The loan scheme is to support their businesses. It is a no interest loan scheme payable in 10 months and an increased renewal after completion of payment. Inaugural benefactors were giving the privilege to recommend someone who is interested and be their guarantor to ensure they fulfil the repayment plan. The programme has being incessant over eight months with the cooperation of the participant and it will continue with increase number of benefactors.

I have brought to the notice of our dear listening governor, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun (MFR), the current state of the bridges at Gbangba, Ijaiye and Iporo Ake. I assure you that attention will be given to the said bridges has His Excellency has promised for the safety of our people.

Furthermore, as Chairman, House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism, I used my good office to organize and execute the first ever “Ode Eko ati Asa” which is a cultural tourism day for students of public secondary schools in my constituency. The programme was tagged; “Our Culture, Our Pride”.

It was a tour of some cultural sites in state. The sole purpose of the tour is to educate the participants on the importance of our culture which is being neglected and to create awareness and promote our tourist sites for improvement and investment in the tourism sector for the overall development of our state. Some of the centres visited are:

Kuti Heritage Museum
St Peter’s Anglican Church (First Church in Nigeria)
The Centenary Hall, Ake
The Alake of Egbaland Palace
Sodeke Cenotaph
Olumo Rock
Adire Mall, Itoku
Hall of fame
Madam Efunroye Tinubu tomb and many more

I also purchased ICT equipment’s to enhance registration of our teaming youths for National Identity Card to facilitate their jamb registration.

No doubt, I have benefited a great deal from the favour and kind cooperation of my dear governor, His Excellency, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun (MFR) and the deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo and his Deputy Speaker, Hon. Oludare Kadiri. I say Thank you.

I extend my profound gratitude to the national leader and father, Chief Akinrogun Olusegun Osoba, for all his support. I also use this medium to appreciate party leaders and members in the state and my constituency who contributed towards the success of this administration.

Finally, I commend the great people of Abeokuta South, constituency 1 who voted massively for me, for their resilience in keeping faith with my agenda and mandate. The last 12 months have been a busy and fulfilling year of uncommon achievements in service delivery. All I have achieved in 12 months is a result of collective efforts and together with your cooperation; I am fully focused on delivering more on my campaign promises and it is on this respect that I plead for your continuous loyalty, patience, understanding and cooperation, which are panaceas for sustainable peace, growth and development.

I wish you all continuous peace and harmony in Abeokuta South Local Government, Ogun State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria at large.

I remain your obedient servant
