ABEOKUTA - As part of its concerted effort to take the youths off the street, the Transition Committee, Abeokuta South Local Government, has vowed to empower youths in council area through agricultural revolution.
The local government Chairman, Hon. Ayomide Michael Shomide made this known during the council's management visit to the 20 hectares of land acquired for agricultural purposes at Akingbasa village, Odeda local government area of the state.
According to the council chairman, his administration is ready to empower youths who are interested in agriculture, assuring that, the land would be cleared, ploughed and ready for cultivation soonest.
He said, interested youths will get their portion of land for farming with a view to collaborate with commercial agricultural practitioners, Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) and other government financial agencies so as to fund the programme.
Similarly, the team visited the council's poultry farm at Asero with the intention of rearing broilers towards Christmas season, which will provide poultry meat and also generate revenue for the local government.
