ABEOKUTA - The outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major-General Olu Irefin has thanked Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the state government's support to the command.
Maj. Gen. Irefin stated this on Friday when he paid a farewell visit to Governor Abiodun at his Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta.
Irefin noted that the rehabilitation of Army Day School, Alamala and the Alamala road construction by the state government has tremendously assisted the smooth operation of the Army division in the state.
Receiving the outgoing GOC, governor Abiodun assured the 81 Division, Nigerian Army of its continued support, just as it congratulated the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Olu Irefin, on his redeployment to Headquarter 6 Division, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the welfare of officers of the division was paramount to the State government, which he noted, necessitated the support given to a group called Alamala Widows, as well as distribution of palliatives to Officers in the Division, to ease the effect of lockdown on them.
"Nigerian Army is very dear to us in Ogun and as government, can say, we have received tremendous support and cooperation from men of the 81 division, especially during the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your team has also been helpful in maintaining a secure and safe state", he said.
