Five Arraigned For Beating Bauchi Hotel Guard To Death


BAUCHI - Five persons accused of beating a 23- year-old security guard , Sunday Joshua, to death at the New Trafford Hotels and Suites, Bauchi, on May 26, 2020, were on Tuesday arraigned before the Magistrates ’ Court 7, Yelwa, Bauchi.

The accused are the owner of the hotel, Innocent Ejeh, and four of his staff members, Abdul - Rasheed Shuaibu, Jacob Joshua, Joshua Ibrahim and Timothy Yunusa.

They are standing trial for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in accordance with sections 96 and 221 of the Penal Code.

The charges were read to the accused on Tuesday.

The case could not be mentioned in the court some days ago because four of the accused had tested positive for COVID- 19.

The magistrate , Safiya Salihu, adjourned the case till August 5, 2020 , and directed that the accused be returned to the Bauchi Custodial Centre.
