Police Nab 59-Year-Old Cleric For Allegedly Defiling 10-Year-Old Girl

ABEOKUTA - Operatives of the Ogun State police command have arrested a  59-year- old pastor, Oketokun Abiodun for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl (name withheld) at Odeda, in Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that the cleric was arrested on Friday July 10, having forcefully had carnal knowledge of the victim.

He said the pastor was arrested following a complaint by the father of the victim who reported at Odeda police station.

Oyeyemi added that victim’s father said  the daughter was playing with other children in the compound and the suspect called her to go and bring his key for him in his room.

The police spokesman said it was  while the innocent girl was going into the room, the pastor followed her stealthily, pushed her onto the bed, covered her mouth with his hands and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

Immediately  he got the report, he said the  Divisional Police Officer,  Odeda division, Ajayi Williams,  detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy pastor was promptly arrested.

Oyeyemi added that during interrogation, the pastor owned up to the commission of the crime and he is currently being detained at Odeda police station; while the victim has been taken to General Hospital, Odeda for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
