ABEOKUTA - Police in Ogun State on at the weekend have arrested one Ayuba Buhari, Uzefa Idris and Adamu Yakubu for alleged highway robbery.
The teenage suspects were arrested on Friday at the Alapako corridor of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly robbing occupants of a Mazda bus they had forced to stop along the highway.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement on Sunday that one of the victims of the robbery attack was dispossessed of N545,000 and a phone.
The woman and the driver Zacheaus Olaniyi, who was also the other victim, were rescued to the station.
Narrating the incident, the victims said the hoodlums jumped into the road from the bush, forced their their vehicle to stop and began to beat them with cutlass before dispossessing them of their valuables.
Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) said the sum of N99,700:00k and one itel phone were recovered from three suspects.
According to the Police Spokesman, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has directed that the suspects should be transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squads (SARS) for thorough investigation and prosecution.
