ABEOKUTA - The Caretaker Chairman, Abeokuta South local government, Hon. Ayodeji Shomide has assured residents of Gbangba that, the collapsed bridge within the market would soon be completed.

Shomide gave this assurance on Monday when he paid a spot assessment tour to reconstruction site of the bridge at Gbangba market in Abeokuta.

Hon. Shomide accompanied by the Vice Chairman and Secretary to the Local Government said the project was one of the projects facilitated by his administration after the July heavy flood which destroyed some parts of Abeokuta.

He commended the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for swiftly responding to the demand and aspiration of the people by approving and release of fund for the reconstruction.

"We are here today to inspect the level of progress of the constructed bridge. This is one of the evidence that Prince Dapo Abiodun is a responsive Governor.

"This bridge collapsed in July heavy flood and we listed it to the Governor for immediate repair and he approved it. We are so lucky in Abeokuta South because the governor has assisted us alot in terms of infrastructural development.

"And I want to assure residents of this area,  that in few weeks time, the bridge will be completed. I just want to urge pedestrians and motorists to apply caution while passing through this bridge for now."
