KATSINA - Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has said that his administration spent over N5 billion in tackling ecological problems in the state.
The governor, who stated this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent said the state government constructed concrete drainages in erosion prone areas in the state.
He noted that his administration was investing in the area of ecological management because of its devastating effect on the state stressing that concerted efforts are being taken to ensure environmental sustainability.
“We spent billions in order to construct fully enforced concrete drainages in Katsina and we are working towards constructing major ones in Katsina, Malumfashi and Funtua LGAs.
“ In addition to what we have done this year also, our consultants are seriously working with the 2 per cent from Local Government and state allocation, every month we put the money in account for ecological funds and have spent over N5 billion to address ecological problems.”
He urged residents of the state to be patient as government is determined to work for the development of the state, even as he enjoined residents to key into government’s programs that have direct bearing to their lives.
