ABEOKUTA - The Ogun State House of Assembly has said that before the state government can access the N2.5billion Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Intervention fund, the executive arm must provide the donations and expenditures of the Covid-19 financial record.

The State Assembly has therefore invited the State Commissioners for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker and Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo to brief the lawmakers on the state government's financial inflow and outflow towards containing the spread of covid-19 pandemic.

The lawmakers said this would guide the Assembly on the approval for the recently proposed N2.5billion CBN intervention fund by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

THE ENCOUNTER NEWS reports that, Governor Abiodun had earlier sought the Assembly's approval to access the sum of N2.5billion in the ongoing intervention fund provided by the CBN towards strengthening the state health sector and enable it to meet up with the rising demand for healthcare products and services as part of efforts at cushioning the effects of covid-19 pandemic in the country.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Kunle Oluomo during the plenary on Thursday explained that, the invitation of the two commissioners was to brief the Assembly with a view of entrenching transparency and account, urging the two officials to appear before the lawmakers next Tuesday.

In another development, the Speaker has directed the State Public Works Agency to immediately provide palliatives on the bad portions of Brewery-Ita-Oshin road to ease vehicular movements especially during the rainy season.
