ABEOKUTA - Following the increasing cult clashes across secondary schools in Ogun State, a Non-Governmental Organization, Blessed Child Support Initiative International is set to launch a campaign against immorality amongst secondary school students and youths.
The founder of the initiative, Mrs. Abidemi Fajobi disclosed this on Saturday at the 3rd anniversary of the foundation and presentation of a prose, authored by a 15year-old SS3 student of Abeokuta Girls Grammar School, Yemisi Adetona.
Mrs. Fajobi noted that, the rampant cult activities in secondary schools was as a result of lack of mentoring and social activities for the youths.
She added that, in order to re-orientate the youths for a better future and a crime free society, her foundation has recorded some songs to preach against rape, correct usage of the mobile phone, avoiding violence, ending wrong habits among youths.
Speaking on the launch of the prose, Mrs. Fajobi stressed that, the foundation was intensifying effort to discover and nurture new talents in the area of creative writing and encouraging robust reading habit among secondary school students.
She explained further that, the foundation has vision of unleashing the potentials of the children and impact the fear of God in them as basic prerequisites for success.
She therefore appealed to the State Ministry of Education to include the new book among the list of recommended literature books for secondary schools for wide circulation.
She equally enjoined the state ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to organize trainings and workshops for NGOs in the state to expand their horizon.
The book reviewer and former Chairman, Association of Nigerian Author (ANA) Mr. Dotun Adekoya urged the students to be an avid readers to become successful in life.
Mr. Adekoya noted that, a good reader become more open minded to analyze issue, saying reading books would improve their interaction with people.
