Aquaculture: Ogun To Engage Another 450 Youths In Fish Farming Value Chain

 


ABEOKUTA - In its bid to improve employment generation among the youths, the Ogun state government is set to engage a minimum of 450 young people and other numerous value chain actors in the fish farming.


The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina disclosed on Wednesday during his visit to Oba Isiaka Olaide Ajede, the Ogirimadagbo, Akin of Ilodo, in Ijebu-Mushin, Ijebu East local government of Ogun state. 


Odedina said he was in the community to inspect the proposed Fish Farm Estate at Ilodo and monitored ongoing land clearing for youths in the community under the FGN/IFAD/Ogun Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) for cassava opportunities.


The commissioner who inspected road repairs and culvets that linked communities and farms for easy transportation from farm to markets, said the aquaculture project was intended to engage a minimum of 450 young people in the community for the first quarter of 2021.
