ABEOKUTA - The Ogun state government has began the renovation of MKO Abiola stadium, Abeokuta and Otunba Dipo Dina International stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, Dr. Kehinde Oluwadare while on inspection tour with the Management of Aaron and Brothers Construction Company to Dipo Dina International stadium in Ijebu-Ode said the renovation was in pursuant to the consideration of Ogun state government to rehabilitate the two international stadia.
Dr. Oluwadare stressed that, Governor Dapo Abiodun has called for the renovation of the two facilities in consonance with his vision to reposition sports and develop young talents in the state.
The Sports commissioner enjoined heads of the two stadia to come up with initiatives that can convert some of the amenities lying fallow in the stadia into revenue generating entities for the state.
He however, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his foresight and his immense passion in developing sports as well as preserving the legacies of the state government.
Some of the facilities earmarked for renovation are cricket pavilion, shooting range, drainages, perimeter fences, damaged roads, entertainment hub and general overhauling of the Main bowl of the Stadia.
The repairs will also see to the construction of extra training pitches & siting of Olympic standard swimming Pools.
