NLC To Begin Nationwide Protest Wednesday Over Wage Re-classification

ABUJA - The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said it will begin a nationwide protest on Wednesday with its allies over moves by the National Assembly to remove the National Minimum Wage from the Exclusive to the concurrent Legislative List.

The umbrella labour union said this in a notice sent to reporters on Tuesday in Abuja by its Head of Information and Protocol, Benson Upah.

The NLC said the protest will hold in the 36 states’ Houses of Assembly.

“The NLC and its allies will on March 10, 2021 embark on a nationwide protest against attempts by some elements in the National Assembly to remove the National Minimum Wage from the Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent Legislative List.

“In Abuja, it will mobilise from the Unity Fountain at 7:30 a.m to the National Assembly on March 10.”
