Ogun Youths Honour Adele Orile-Imo With National Outstanding Leadership Award

The OGYASD president presenting award to the Asiwaju of Orile Imo 

ABEOKUTA - The Asiwaju of Orile Imo, Obafemi Owode local government, High Chief Olakunle Olalekan on Wednesday bagged a national outstanding leadership award by the Ogun Youth Advocate for special development (OGYASD).


The award ceremony held at LALEK Hotel, located at Logbara, Orile Imo, Ogun State.


In his address, OGYASD President, Oluseyi Adam explained that the award was based on his contributions towards youths developmental projects and his great achievements so far within the community.


He submitted that chief Olakunle’s kindness and philanthropic ngesture were also considered as criteria for the honour given to him.


The president maintained that they were impressed by his humility and his great achievements so far within the community, urging him to continue in his good deeds.


He said, "this award is not presented for people to just know you, it's presented to people to learn from you as our belief is that the best classroom can only be seen on the feet of an elderly person for what an elder see on seat, we the youths need to climb the ladder to see clearly” he said.


Meanwhile, the awardee who also an Adele Of Orile-Oko Kingdom appreciated the honour.


He noted that he was very happy to receive the award from youths, urging all the entire youths both home and abroad to partake in politics so that they won’t be left out in the future.


Olakunle said “I am so happy to receive this outstanding award from the youths, this shows that youths still appreciate what we elders are doing. This is a laudable award bestowed on me, I felt honored. I promise you that I will continue in my good deeds.


"I want advise the youths to participate actively in politics both at federal, State and the local government so that in future they will not be left out you are the leaders of tomorrow, we believe you will continue to make us proud," he concluded.


Asiwaju Orile Imo while responding to newsmen on why the community is yet to have an Oba after the demise of the late King, he said “we are yet to be given order by the Alake of Egbaland, and without any directives from Alake Of Egbaland, we can not have a king."


He maintained that the Chiefs and Baales in Orile-Imo are still consulting, adding the that very soon their king will be ready.
