ABEOKUTA - The entire Ilaro township was on standstill on Sunday as the popular business mogul and socialite, Alhaji Waheed Haruna otherwise known as Wadoye buried his mother, Alhaja Sideeqot Haruna in a grand style.
Alhaja Sideeqot Haruna died last week Sunday at the age of 96.
But his son, Alhaji Waheed Haruna took notable politicians, captains of industries, academic scholars and high socialites to the 8-day fidau prayer for the late nonagenarian.
The colourful burial ceremony kick started with an opening by the league of Imams and Alfas led by Chief Imam of Ilaro, Sheikh Tajudeen Mustapha-Adewunmi.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Wadoye who is the Bobagunwa of Ilaro thanked God for a life well spent by the deceased.
The CEO Wadoye Express Limited described his late mother as a peace loving woman whose words of wisdom cannot be quantified.
He noted that, her philanthropic gesture towards the less privileged in the society was source of inspiration for him, stressing to emulate the quality lifestyle.
"Alhaja Sideeqot Haruna nee Busari was a mother who has instill discipline in us through her counselling. I cannot quantify I miss about her.
"The quality I want to emulate from her is her patience and spirit of generosity. She always want people around her to be happy. She always wanted the community to be at peace and lifted the less privileged."
Some of her grand children described the deceased as a peace loving woman and a business woman of repute.
According to her first grandson, Fatai Haruna, late Madam Sideeqot was a devoted Muslim and God-fearing who exhibited exemplary teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
In his sermon, Sheikh Abdulsalam Hamod Kasali enjoined the deceased's children to emulate the good work of the late woman.
Sheikh Kasali reminded the people of life after death, saying only their good work shall live after them.
He maintained that, death is inevitable and every souls shall taste death irrespective of their position.
