Akinwande To Gov. Abiodun: Make Your Remaining Two Years In Office For Greater Prosperity In Ogun

Engr. Gbenga Akinwande

ABEOKUTA - The President of Gbenga Akinwande Foundation, a humanitarian organisation, Engineer Gbenga Akinwade, has urged Governor Dapo Abiodun to spend the remaining two years of his first term for greater prosperity of Ogun State.

In an exclusive interview on the special edition of City Digest magazine, Engineer Akinwade enjoined Governor Abiodun to invest more in primary and secondary schools, employment of employment of teachers, opening-up of local communities to markets and urban centres, providing loans and financial aids to rural traders and farmers.

Engineer Akinwande argued that the local government administration should be empowered to lubricate their various local communities' areas with direct labour jobs to put some money in the pockets of the locals.

He also called for equitable distribution of state resources across the three senatorial district, while recommending the template of former Governor Olusegun Osoba administration’s formulation among the districts.

If given the opportunity, Engineer Akinwande expressed his readiness to serve the people of the Ogun West Senatorial District at the political office.

According to him, “my advice to his Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR) is to spend the remaining two years of his first term for greater prosperity of our state.

“Investment in our primary and secondary schools, employment of teachers, opening-up of our local communities to markets and urban centres, providing loans and financial aids to our rural traders and farmers.

“The local government administration should be empowered to lubricate their various local communities' areas with direct labour jobs to put some money in the pockets of the locals.

“Of all, his Excellency should be fair to all the senatorial districts and local government areas in the distribution of state resources, and not follow the sectional approaches of his predecessors.

"I would recommend the template of Aremo Olusegun Osoba administration i.e. 40-30-30 formulation among the senatorial districts”.

He urged the youths to live up with responsibility and face global competitiveness.

“I want to remind them that Enahoro, Awolowo, Azikiwe, Opara, Ahmadu-Bello and many of our heros are youths and young men and women, when they waged war against colonialism and sent the British packing from our country.

“Colonialism is an advanced form of slavery, and even those youths of that generation could stand up to fight for the betterment of their country then. What is the contribution of the youths of today to the betterment and prosperity of this country?

"Are they going to continue to be PAs and brief cases carriers for unscrupulous politicians or are they going to continue be Chelsea, Man United, Barcelona fans, analysing football scores at the beer parlours with multiple girl friends?

“Some couples of decades ago, China youths went back to work, they started with farming, today virtually everything all over the world is coming from China.

"Many youths in China today are managing directors of various companies, we do have many of them in our country now leaders of businesses. Nigeria youths need to wake-up to the challenges of global competitiveness”, he said.
