ABEOKUTA - A Non-Governmental Organization, Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo Renaissance Project has trained no fewer than 350 school children across Ado-Odo Ota local government and Igbesa areas of Ogun state on computer programming.
The NGO said this was part of its core objectives to encourage the pursuit of excellence in education and support up-skilling measures in Ogun state.
The group in a press statement issued on Friday by its Project Coordinator, Tunde Badmus and Director of Communications, Mr. Oladimeji Bankole noted that, the 3-Day project tagged "A Day To Code" was organized for children between the ages of 7 and 12years.
They maintained that, the essence was to avail the children the prospect of the increasing digitisation opportunities across the world and making Nigeria as the 6th industrial revolution nation.
The group thanked Prodigy Hub, Enugu for providing the much needed physical resources that made each day possible.
"We successfully provided a snapshot to programming to our future leaders so that they can partake in the increasing digitisation of societies across the world as the 6th industrial revolution dawns upon us.
"We are grateful to Prodigy Hub Enugu for providing the much needed physical resources that made each day possible. Ado-Odo Community backed our efforts by allowing us free use of the town hall, Mr. Olasunkanmi Akapo for a flawless execution of the logistics, Mr Kasobath Shuaib, Mr Asade Adeshina, the Irafunja of Ado-Odo High Chief Adedire Bankole and Mr Segun Ojeleye of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and all volunteers who contributed immensely to the success recorded in Ado-Odo.
"We are indebted to the provost of St Michael's African Bethel Cathedral, Igbo-Olori, Ota who having never had any contact with us granted use of "The Cathedral Hall" and its outstanding facilities for free.
Mr Saheed Oyede (Humanbeing), for taking on the task of 5 men and remaining unfazed, Prince Gbenro Falohun for matching his words with action by providing every additional support and our other volunteers who freely contributed their time and energy to deliver a resounding success in Ota.
"In Igbesa, we stood on the shoulder of a giant, Chief Femi Obanla when he at the last minute gave us free use of the hall at Great King Hotel. Leading the team of volunteers were Mr Tunde Badmus and Mr Saliu Lawal, to them and other volunteers we express our utmost gratitude.
"We pray to God in His infinite mercies to continue to foster the spirited efforts we saw in our communities and once again appreciate our kinsmen and kinswomen for receiving us with open arms and showing an amazing hospitality to our entire team. We hope and pray to do more together for a long time to come."
