I Plead With Buhari Not To Take Away Ministerial Appointment From Us - Kente

Buhari

Jalingo - APC leader in Taraba State, Chief David Sabo Kente, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari not to take away the Ministerial slot from Taraba State, after sacking the Minister of Power, Engineer Saleh Mamman.

“Many have speculated that the sudden removal of the Minister of Power, Engineer Saleh Mamman, would disrupt the activities of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Taraba State and spoil its slim chance of taking over power there in 2023.

He reaffirmed that the party remained formidable, firm and ready to take over power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba in 2023.

Kente, who gave this assurance while interacting with journalists in Jalingo, also, stated that the party will remain steadfast and steady in its pursuit to place the leadership of the state in capable hands in the coming 2023 general elections.

“I don’t believe that the relieving of the Hon. Minister of Power from his duty would in any way disrupt the activities of the party in the state nor ruin its chances in 2023. The Minister is still a member of the party,” he said.

Kente, however, made an appeal to the President not to take away the ministerial appointment from the state completely as there are many who are capable of filling the position in the state.

He said: “We are definitely concerned about the removal of Engr Saleh Mamman, as the Minister of Power. Still, we cannot begin to protest over the President’s decision because he is the head and he knows best what to do.

“Our plea now is that the President should not take away the ministerial appointment from us completely. In the state here, we have many capable hands that can carry on where the Minister has stopped. So, we are appealing to the President to look and pick one among us here in the state.”

The chieftain equally applauded the resilience of the outgoing Power Minister and also encouraged him not to relent in his efforts, as building and promoting the party is teamwork and not the job of one person alone.

Kente also called on party members to remain steadfast in the pursuit of their course, noting that everyone who is interested can join as the party runs an open door politicking system.

It would be recalled that on 1st September 2021, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, announced the removal of the Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, and his counterpart, the Minister of Agriculture, Mohammed Nanono.
