ABEOKUTA - The Chairman, House Committee on Sports at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba and Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo will on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 grace the opening ceremony of sports week of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun state chapter.
Oluomo, who is the guest speaker of the event, will speak on the theme of the week: "Quality legislation towards a sustainable sports policy in Nigeria", while Hon. Olumide Osoba will chair the event at the NUJ Press Centre, Iwe-Irohin, House, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
According to the SWAN Secretary in the state, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, the event will kick off on Monday, December 6th with a health walk from Ibara under the bridge to MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
He said the sports writers will play a football novelty match with members of the Ogun State House of Assembly on Thursday, 9th December 2021 at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta by 4 pm.
Ogunsiji noted that the week will be rounded off with an Award/Gala Night on Friday, 10th December 2021 at the conference room of Continental Suites Hotel, Ibara, Abeokuta by 7 pm.
He, therefore, urged all members and journalists in the state to attend punctually.
