ABEOKUTA - Operatives of Amotekun Corps, Ogun state command on Sunday arrested two suspects in connection to the killing of a Police inspector, Adebayo Adele attached to the IGP IRT Annex Ibadan.
The two suspects, Kusogba Israel Oye Segun whose action led to the death of the Police Inspector were arrested following an intelligence report received by the Corps on January 2, 2022.
THE ENCOUNTER NEWS reports that, on 20th September, 2021 a team of Police Officers attached to IGP IRT Annex Ibadan while on investigation was attacked by One Aminu Azeez a butcher by profession, and 14 others.
According to a press release issued by the Amotekun Commander in the state, CP David Akinremi, the principal suspect, Aminu Azeez was alleged to have bought stolen cows belonging to a complainant based in Ibadan.
Akinremi explained that, when the IRT team arrived Imeko-Afon to arrest the suspect and his accomplices, Aminu Azeez resisted arrest, and instigated others to attack the team.
He said in the course of the assault on the Police team, the suspects matcheted one Inspector Adebayo Adele, a member of the team which led to his death.
The Amotekun boss stressed that, the two suspects have been handed over to the IRT team from Ibadan in continuation of investigation into the case while efforts are ongoing towards arresting other suspects implicated in the attack still at large.
Similarly, the Amotekun operatives have arrested a 24-year-old Hussaini Abdulsalam for stealing a motorcycle registration number OGUN TTD 439 VN.
The Amotekun commander said the motorcycle was stolen in Ijebu-Ode by a two man gang who hired the rider to take them to a hotel in the town.
He explained further that, the two men became friendly with the rider and offered him a drink unknown to him that the drink has been drugged.
He added the rider having taken the drink became drowsy.
Consequently, the suspect took away the motorcycle.
"However, based on credible intelligence, the motorcycle which registration number has been changed to OGUN AAB 252 WI was traced to the above named suspect, Hussani Abdulssalam ‘M’ in Sabo Area of Sagamu.
"The suspect who claimed to be a mechanic alleged that the motorcycle was brought to him for repairs but could neither give the name of the so called customer nor his address.
"The suspect is being handed over to the Police Headquarters, Eleweran for further investigation and prosecution.
The Amotekun Corps in the State while appreciating the support of the good people of the State, traditional rulers and stakeholders alike in providing credible intelligence to our operatives to rid our dear State of criminal elements is also solicits for their continued support in this regard.
"The Corps want to once again sound a note of warning to those who relish in crime and criminalities that there will be no hiding place for them in the Gateway State."
