ABEOKUTA - A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu has assured the people of Ogun state to exercise patience, as their liberation time is near.
Adebutu gave the assurance on Wednesday at the official declaration of his governorship ambition on the platform of People's Democratic Party (PDP) held at the Ake Palace ground, Abeokuta.
The colourful declaration had in attendance Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose and host of PDP leaders in the South West.
The former federal lawmaker pleaded with the residents of the state to endure the bad governance of ruling APC, saying "put your mind at rest and not to fear because I am the Joshua whom God has ordained to take you to the Promised land."
He noted that, the people of the state have suffered too much, describing the last three years rule of APC administration has "Unhuman Kindness".
He, however, declared to start his ward to ward campaign to the 236 wards in the state by next week Tuesday.
He described Gov. Nyesom Wike as a man with human kindness, who stood firm and fought for the party.
"Ogun State does not have any business with poverty and illiteracy. Her citizens are energetic, high achieving, entrepreneurial, sociable and hospitable. The vegetation is good, fertile and luscious. The landscape is conducive and suitable for various economic and social activities. Our state is located strategically as a nerve centre to various national and international economically vibrant cities. The indigenes play active and determining roles in various fields of human endeavour.
"Yet, the state and majority of its citizens are going through the pangs of underdevelopment, suboptimisation and skewed development. Its borders from Waterside on Ogun East to Ilara, Ogun West, there are subordinated growth, with communities and its people looking and acting as poor neighbours of the high potential domains. Even at the major city centres, Ijebu Ode, Ado Odo-Ota, Ikenne, Ayetoro and even Abeokuta, the state Capital, the spectre and constraints of unplanned and discontinuous development, has left in its trail many projects that have grossly wasted, costly resources and disconnected with the harsh economic realities of the people.
"I am committed to the people of Ogun State, this is a state that has served as a foundation for our pedigree. It is fulfilling to see this prosperity shared by our kith and kin all across the state. I desire a state where: every individual in Ogun State will be able to lead a comfortable life, filled with opportunities to learn, develop skills, and earn a livelihood.
"Women and children, will be empowered and provided with the opportunities they need to achieve their full potential. The genuinely vulnerable the old, the infirm, and the disabled will be able to lead a secure and dignified life. Every child in the State will be well fed, healthy and will go to school and learn. A girl child born will have as many chances as her brothers will to go to school, find a job and live a healthy and productive life. No family will lack basic needs like food, clothing and shelter.
"Every family will be able to live in hygienic surroundings, and enjoy the benefits of clean air and water. Families will promote social values, encourage hard work, and continually strive for a better life. Everyone will benefit from a government that is truly 'for the people' and works “with the people”, which enables individuals and businesses to achieve their full potential, and is transparent and efficient in it's functioning.
