2023: Ogun Assembly Aspirant, Biobaku, Debunks Stepping Down, Obtains APC Form

ABEOKUTA - Following the rumour making the rounds that Hon. Yomade Biobaku, an Aspirant for the Ogun State House of Assembly from the Abeokuta North State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stepped down, the APC Aspirant has debunked the rumour, saying "he is still very much in the race."

Recall that Hon. Yomade Biobaku from Ika Ward 7, Abeokuta North Local Government declared his intention to run for the State House of Assembly at an Empowerment Programme organised by Yomade Biobaku (YMB) Foundation in Abeokuta sometime in March where several women and men drawn from Oke-Ona, Gbagura, Owu and Oke-Ogun zones of the Local Government were empowered with start-up and trading tools.

The Encounter News reports that Hon. Yomade Biobaku empowered several women and men with different start-up and trading tools which included Sewing and Grinding Machines, Deep Freezers, Motorcycles, among others, worth N8 Million through YMB Foundation as part of measures to alleviate poverty in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Speaking on Friday at the APC Secretariat in Abeokuta, the State Capital after picking APC Expression and Nomination Forms worth N2 Million at the State APC Party Secretariat, Hon. Yomade Biobaku said it was heartless and baseless to say the he had stepped down for any Aspirant within the Party as he had crossed the rubicon and it was too late for him to drop his political ambition.

Hon. Yomade, who went to the APC Party Secretariat in company of Mr Sakirudeen Adenekan and Semiu Ajayi, Wards 6 and 7 Chairmen, respectively  in Abeokuta North Local Council, noted that his political conviction propelled him to declare for the Assembly Seat and not being controlled by any political god fathers or being sponsored by money bags and it would be difficult for anybody to now ask him to step down for any Aspirant.

He said, "It's laughable when I heard that I, Hon. Yomade Biobaku has stepped down for a particular Aspirant in the APC. This is a big lie and it can't hold water, I am still very much in the Ogun State House of Assembly Race and I believe I am winning already in the coming Primaries, hence, some people are already jittery over it, that was why they were peddling rumors.

"APC is a big political family and we have lots of resources that are enough to go round and when I am elected in the Primaries finally in the General Elections next year by God's Grace, I can assure you and other Aspirants that all of them will be carried along and I will run all-inclusive Government where every member and leader of our Party will surely benefit."

When asked about the chances of APC in the 2023 General Elections and Re-Election of Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Biobaku assured Abeokuta North Local Government and Ogun State Electorate and Residents that APC is a Party to beat and the Party would ensure that all Candidates presented for all political posts will surely win when General Elections come.

"I can assure you that the APC is winning all political posts again. Forget about what people are saying about APC, there is no Party like APC and somebody like me is coming to change the political narrative in the Abeokuta North Local Government, the Abeokuta North State Constituency, and Ogun State at large, as a Legislator by complementing the efforts of our amiable Governor Dapo Abiodun", he said.
