ABEOKUTA - The Ogun State chapter of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has congratulated the entire Management, Coaching Crew and Players of Ogun State-based team, Remo Stars Football Club for the success recorded in the just concluded Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
YSFON in a release signed by its Chairman in the state, Alh. Lawal Waheed Adeoye said finishing 3rd on the log of the table and eventual qualification of the team for the CAF Confederations Cup was a hard-fought victory.
Adeoye said, although, the season was not without its ups and downs, but the team was able to weather the storms through a relentless effort, dexterousness, exactitude and dedication.
He said, "all we asked for is at least for a team to serve us with the Premier League Football crams in the State, but you have put the icing on the cake by qualifying for the prestigious CAF Confederations Cup.
"This qualification is special and unique for a privately-owned football Club in Ogun State to qualify for continental engagement after 35 years since another privately-owed team, Abiola Babes of Abeokuta achieved a similar feat.
"We believe the team will not rest on its oars as you maintain steady momentum in the Elites League.
"It is on record that Hon. Kunle Soname is the first and only Nigerian football Administrator to own and manage a Football Club in Europe (Portugal).
"Your administrative acumen has led to complete transformation of Remo Stars in terms of sponsorship and modeling to the outside world. Also the state-of-the-art Stadium built at Ikenne Remo is second to none in the country."
