ABEOKUTA - Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has again set the record by conducting the freest, fairest, most peaceful and credible Students Union election.
The election, which was conducted via e-voting system at the ICT center of the Polytechnic, was adjudged the first of its kind in the history of the 40year old institution.
Mr. Samson Omoniyi (aka Heritage) of the Department of Mass Communication was emerged the Students' Union president-elect for the 2018/2019 academic session.
The election was monitored by different students' groups, some members of staff and other relevant stakeholders.
Analyses by the agents showed that MAPOLY has blazed the trail in campus politics and leadership in Ogun State and Nigeria.
Briefing the Rector in his office immediately the voting ended, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) National Public Relations Officer, Adeyemi Azeez likened MAPOLY election to a peaceful state government election standard and congratulated the rector, Dr Samson Odedina for achieving a record breaking conduct of election of many years in the history of the Polytechnic.
The candidates' agents, who also visited the rector alongside the Ag. Director, Students' Affairs, Tpl. Luke-Adebola, thanked the rector for believing in them and expressed satisfaction in the process of the election.
The Ag. DSA, who supervised the conduct of the election while briefing the rector after the whole exercise was full of appreciation to God for the success and feat achieved. He thanked the rector for the confidence and for providing enabling environment which has put the institution in the positive side of history.
The rector, Dr Odedina thanked every stakeholder for their time and energy as well as for believing in the system saying; no doubt MAPOLY will rule the world.
The rector said the conduct of this election was an indication that the future is bright for Nigeria with the students and leaders our institution is turning out to labour market.
He express confidence in the ability of MAPOLY students to lead this country saying " MAPOLY students are everywhere doing well, I am sure, those coming out now, will surpass the set standard.
