BAUCHI – Following the killings in Zamfara State, a media consultant, Alhaji Dahiru Hassan Kera, has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari of the state over the development, saying that they should be held responsible for their inability to intervene and resolve the insecurity challenges in the area.
According to press statement signed by Kera and issued to newsmen yesterday in Bauchi, he stated that the latest killings, which took place on Sunday evening in which about 40 villagers were reportedly massacred by the unknown gunmen, was unwarranted and showed the weakness of the Federal Government in curtailing the problem.
The statement recalled that the killings, raping and destruction of property and livestock started some years ago in the state and had remained unabated.
“It is high time for both President Buhari and Governor Yari to came together and dealt with the insecurity issue bedeviling the state with a view to ending it once and for all. It is unfortunate that the spate of these killings should continue till this time without any proactive measures taken to stop them.”
“It shows that our leaders in the country have lost their sense of constitutional responsibility in protecting the lives and property of its citizens. It is becoming worrisome that if these killings continues without any measure to curb the menace, the number of casualties could surpass that of North-East with the attendant humanitarian crisis that could follow”
