Sterling Bank Donates N250Million To Fight Coronavirus In Nigeria

ABEOKUTA - One of the leading Banks in Nigeria, Sterling Bank Plc has announced its donation of N250million as parts of its corporate social responsibility to combat the spread of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

The bank disclosed this in an electonic message sent to all customers and signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Abubakar Suleiman. 

According to the Chief Executive Officer, the bank and its partners in the Bankers'committee are leading the effort to raise money towards N120billion naira required by the federal government to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.

Suleiman therefore canvassed for extra support from Nigerians in an effort to further scale the war against the pandemic in Nigeria.

"Since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus in Nigeria, corporate organizations and individuals have been making contributions towards containing the spread and supporting the citizens at this critical time.

"This is as many companies in Nigeria have joined the newly formed Nigerian Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 to help channel resources to combat the virus.

"To help achieve our shared goal of eradicating the virus, Sterling Bank will be contributing Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N250,000,000) as part of our commitment to the coalition.

"While this will go a long way, more still needs to be done. We have come to acknowledge that this battle will require every one of us to play our part as corporate citizens and individuals -This is where we call on your support.

"With the effort made by the organized private sector so far, the Bank is canvassing for extra support in an effort to further scale the war against the pandemic in Nigeria. Through the 'Fight COVID-19 Fund (FCF)' Campaign, the Bank is calling for what it called "a help us all defeat this pandemic for good."

"This is a call to save your country, yourself and humanity.

Let us show our strength in uniting against this virus. Donate and share this."

He maintained that, every naira donated would go a long way in saving the country, urging Nigerians to contribute their quota through the designated account:
