THE South South Youth Initiative (SSYI) has appealed to the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, to ensure transparency in the disbursement of the N75 billion Youth Investment Fund released by the Federal Government.
Its President Imeabe Oscar, in a statement on Monday, said: “SSYI calls on the minister to ensure transparency in the disbursement of the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund. Youths in the north should not be allowed to have undue advantage in the process.
“The fund is a government initiative created to boost economy through leverage and access to finance for youths. The programme should be allowed to solve the problems it was designed to address.
“We appeal to Dr. Sunday Dare to maintain sincerity so as not to deprive most youths the opportunity to benefit from the programme. We demand that the minister address us on how the money will be utilised and how the programme will be carried out, whether, it will be in different phases,” he added.
